Golden Gate is a community of two kinds. Golden Gate City is a square of dense development about two miles on a side, roughly 7.8 road miles from our Tamiami Trail East office by way of Airport-Pulling Road and Golden Gate Parkway. Golden Gate Estates lies beyond it, cut by canals.
The City side is a grid of family housing: 8,530 homes, 4,462 of them detached and 3,733 more in buildings of two to 19 units. Renters hold 3,641 of the 8,037 occupied homes, the median year built is 1987, and in the 2020 census 43.8 percent of households had children, so doors here cycle often, which is what wears rollers and springs.
The Estates have a different history: in the late 1960s Gulf American Land Corporation sold swampland there to about 40,000 buyers, built 183 miles of roads and 813 miles of canals, and used the canal fill to raise the land. NOAA's Naples station east of the City records 61.3 inches of rain a year and about 121 days at 90°F or more, against 49.55 inches at the airport.

From Tamiami Trail East we reach Golden Gate City in about 7.8 road miles, and Orangetree in the eastern Estates in about 24. On the City side we expect duplexes and small multi-family buildings with a door per unit, so each unit's door is booked on its own. On Estates parcels we expect long driveways, detached workshops and oversized doors, and we check every door on the parcel in one visit.
